iShine Bible NLT

The iShine Bible NLT is a great combination of the Bible and media resources like QR codes. As one who works with tweens I think this is a great Bible for them, and I highly recommend it. The NLT is an easy to understand translation of the Bible and the QR codes make it interactive for the readers. It’s a great size so it can easily be thrown in a purse, or book bag and taken anywhere. I am very impressed with this Bible and will be recommending it to parents of tweens that I know. Thanks to Tyndale for providing me with complimentary copies.

Promises to Keep by Ann Tatlock

Promises to Keep by Ann Tatlock is about a mother trying to keep her kids safe, two young girls who share secrets, a father desperate to reunite with his family, and an older woman who is determined to die in her home. This book was an interesting read, although I found it rather slow. The story line is good, but to me it just seemed to drag on and by the end you basically knew what was going to happen before it took place. The author does a good job of developing the characters and making you feel for what they are going through, but there are so many extra things in this book, that had I not been so interested in knowing how it ended I would not finished the book. I am a person who loves a good novel but this one just didn’t seem to hold my attention until we were about 50 pages from the end of the book. Thanks to Bethany House Publishers for sending me this book free to review.

Max on Life by Max Lucado

Max on Life by Max Lucado, has Max answering the questions of readers. This book has many of the questions Max receives from his readers with his own answers and Biblical backing to them. The questions in this book are broken down into seven sections, so if there is a particular subject you have a question about you can easily see if the question is answered in the book.

I found this book interesting, although I did skip some of the questions because they didn’t interest me. It was really neat to read Max’s thoughts on the questions and see how it compared to my thinking. I also appreciated the Biblical references that were thrown in to support his answers. The book was a bit dry in places but again I think that’s just because some of the questions weren’t interesting to me. Overall I enjoyed reading this book. Thanks to Thomas Nelson for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this book.

The Take Action Bible, NKJV

What a great idea for a Bible, The Take Action Bible NKJV features real-life stories and pictures of people who are putting God’s Word into action. This ultraslim NKJV Bible features: real-life stories that show how to take action with God’s Word, personal take action notes pages, 52 take action ideas, the words of Jesus are in red, translation and text notes, concordance, and Bible reading plan.

The concept for this Bible is great it teaches how to put God’s Word into action. After reading parts of this Bible it really makes me wonder why no one has come up with this concept before. The take action ideas, really give the reader a starting point of how to put God’s Word into action and different ways to apply that principle. I am really impressed with this Bible and will be buying a few to give as gifts. I highly recommend this Bible to everyone especially those looking to put action behind their faith. Thanks to Thomas Nelson for providing me with a complimentary copy.

My Foolish Heart by Susan May Warren

My Foolish Heart by Susan May Warren is a great book. The book is about Issy and Caleb and how they are a perfect match for each other yet because of the obstacles in their lives find it difficult to get to know each other.

I really enjoyed how the author developed each character and how she was able to help the characters overcome obstacles that they have in their lives. This book is a great example of how God and true love can help you overcome anything. I received an advance reader copy of this book from Tyndale.
